Mission Statement
In Eastern Kentucky, our unique history and culture is disappearing at an alarming rate. This photographic archive is an attempt to preserve a record of the old houses, barns, schools, churches, stores, and other landmarks before they are lost to us forever.
The Old Log Cabin In The Lane
Oh the chimney's fallen down and the roof's all caved in
Lettin' in the sunshine and the rain
And the only friend I've got now is that good old dag of mine
And the little old log cabin in the lane
Oh the trees have all growed up that lead around the hill
The fences have all gone to decay
And the creeks have all dried up where we used to go to mill
And things have changed their course another way

You will certainly want to update your photos. Since your posting this home has undergone significant restoration--and it is still ongoing. Improvements include new windows, a new roof, extensive foundation work, dormer replacements, restoration of original dentil molding, eaves and soffit work, porch renovation, leaded glass windows for the stair lights (finished and awaiting installation)etc. We are hoping to have the exterior finished before winter of 2011.
