In Eastern Kentucky, our unique history and culture is disappearing at an alarming rate. This photographic archive is an attempt to preserve a record of the old houses, barns, schools, churches, stores, and other landmarks before they are lost to us forever.
The Old Log Cabin In The Lane
Oh the chimney's fallen down and the roof's all caved in
Lettin' in the sunshine and the rain
And the only friend I've got now is that good old dag of mine
And the little old log cabin in the lane
Oh the trees have all growed up that lead around the hill
The fences have all gone to decay
And the creeks have all dried up where we used to go to mill
And things have changed their course another way

This building is not the old school house that was in old Fallsburg. It was built in1901 by the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Methodist Church. The Church used the bottom floor until they got their own building. After the Lodge left, it was used as a store, a residence and a lot of community events but was not a school.
